Men’s Bowmaker Saturday March 24th 2011
The 2012 men’s bowmaker was a great contest with 72 players taking on summer like conditions. A bowmaker is the best two scores on each hole which was played in a points format. The golf course was once again in superb condition with the greens cut at 3mm and rolling like a billiard table. Making the most of these stunning conditions were Phil and Steve Lau, Mark Shorter and Gavin Walters who shot 90 points. They knew 90 was the score to post and did so with a birdies on the 17th and 18th to seal victory.
The team played together in the texas scramble two weeks ago and despite just missing out then they felt they had unfinished business as a team. ‘we played really well that day but just could not hole the putts’ said Mark. ‘We knew we had a great chance today and managed to keep the team together, thankfully the putts did drop this time! Pulling off this victory with such a strong field feels great’ Steve added.

Men’s Bowmaker Results Saturday 21st January 2012

The men’s bowmaker competition at Cleobury Mortimer was once again a massive success with 16 teams contesting the blustery conditions.  With the best two stableford scores on each hole to count good scores were expected. Early starters Pete Smith, Alan Walker, Andy Johnson and Simon Johnson shot a fantastic 84 points, which was leading all day until the late entrants of Rich Daley, Jack Pringle, Matt Emms and Andy Greenhalgh came in. Under Daleys captaincy the lads finished with a massive sixteen points on the last three hole to card 85 to win by one. After a nervy half hour wait whilst the other teams finished relief soon set in for team Daley when the news filtered through to the bar that they had indeed won. Daley had this to say ‘it was a great team effort and we scored consistently despite the very high winds, it feels great to get the first win of the year under our belts’.
Final standings
1st - Rich Daley, Andy Greenhalgh, Matt Emms, Jack Pringle
